Shana Berger studied photography at Indiana University where she co-founded Your Art Here, an artist group that puts art on billboards. Following her passion for art and social justice, she then spent over a decade in rural Alabama running the Coleman Center for the Arts, where her work became a model for deep and long-term engagement between artists and community.

Shana was named in Indiana University’s inaugural list of 20 under 40 distinguished alumni and served as a board member of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Her work has been shown across the U.S. including at the Soap Factory (Minneapolis, MN) and the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum (New York City); and written about in Art Papers Magazine, Art in America, the Huffington Post, the Atlantic, and Dwell Magazine.

After many years of using image making and storytelling in her work, Shana has returned to her lifelong dream of filmmaking and television. After writing her first feature, These Little Fangs of Mine, she produced four short films (The Thing I Want to Say, Standards, Okay?, and Missing While Black) and is now making her directorial debut with Fingers Up. She lives in Atlanta, GA under the biggest Magnolia tree you could imagine.
